WHO WE ARE

Our Mission Statement

We understand the importance of sustainable living that is mindful of health and environment. Our mission is to bring knowledge about Insulated Solar Electric Cooking (ISEC) so that it is possible for anyone, regardless of where they live or their financial situation, to use.

We were inspired to create this through Pete Shwartz's Appropriate Technology for the World's People, Design class. Through this class, students pursue projects that apply technology to current world events. To learn more, visit https://canvas.calpoly.edu/courses/22904

A SOLAR COOKING BACKGROUND

According to the World Health Organization, 3 billion people cook with biomass and coal. 4 million people die from its associated emissions every year.

Environmental effects include deforestation air pollution.

Heath effects include respiratory disease, neurodegenerative diseases (Alzheimer's, dementia, Parkinson's), and heightened risks to pneumonia.

Solar cooking provides its users with a more eco-friendly, and health conscious form of cooking. It is affordable and cooks food just as well. The problem with ISECs, however, is building them. It can be hard to communicate instructions to users, so we believe that the first step is making a tutorial video that is easy to follow and understand.
